After earning his degree in Architecture from the Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona (UPC), he continued his training through stays and travels in various countries, gaining first-hand insight into the work of the great masters of both contemporary and historical architecture.
During his time in the United States, particularly through studies in New York City and Chicago, he was able to visit and analyze the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe, Louis Kahn, and Marcel Breuer. In England, he completed courses on English landscape design, and in Italy, he drew inspiration from the villas and gardens of the Veneto and Tuscany regions.
He continues to travel frequently, discovering buildings and artistic treasures that serve as a constant source of inspiration for his work.

“You have to go out and look. To experience the work of the great architects firsthand. It’s one thing to see a building in photographs, but only when you stand within the space do you truly understand what the architect wanted to convey — what they sought to achieve.”

“In places like the Balearic Islands — and the Mediterranean in general — climate plays a defining role. That’s where elements such as shutters, pergolas, and courtyards become essential. Gardens are crucial in shaping vistas, just as trees can make a view truly unique.”

In 2003, he established his own architecture studio in Palma de Mallorca and began collaborating professionally with his father, the renowned architect Luís García-Ruiz.
Over the years, Antonio García-Ruiz has developed a distinctive style defined by spacious, open interiors, simple planes of elegant purity, and the use of light as a design material, all while maintaining a balance between architecture and landscape.
His houses are characterized by their warmth and livability, conceived to create spaces that are both refined and welcoming. Materials play an essential role in achieving comfort, while a deep sensitivity toward vegetation and the vital presence of gardens is always evident in his work.

Among his most recognized works are Casa Infinity and Casa Maktoub — both in Port d’Andratx — as well as Villa s’Estremera in Bunyola, Casa Akama in Puerto Adriano, and Casa Mortixt in Son Vida.
For Antonio García-Ruiz, architecture must embrace every aspect that contributes to a project — from the garden to the smallest furniture detail. In his view, an architect must hold a comprehensive vision of the project, whether it is a building, an urban intervention, or an object, encompassing all artistic and functional perspectives.

“The more a client becomes involved in a project, the easier it is to reach that point where the professional’s vision aligns with the tastes, desires, and needs of those for whom the space is conceived.”
